Finance Assistant
*Our client can consider full-time (37.5 hours) or 30 hours per week, across 4 or 5 days
(12-month Maternity contract)
We are seeking a skilled finance professional with experience in Xero to join our clients small, collaborative, and friendly finance team. This is a 12-month contract position with the option to work 37.5 or 30 hours a week on a hybrid basis (1 or 2 days office base max). The role is to cover maternity leave and includes a handover period to help familiarise yourself with our processes and systems before our team member starts her leave.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Credit control
- Invoice checking using Xero/Dext
- Budget management, client communications, and running reports.
- Monthly P & L Review
- Support on payroll processing, liaising with the external payroll company
- You will also work closely with the Accountant and Finance Director during month-end and handle HMRC communications and queries.
- Other responsibilities include purchase ledger, bank reconciliations, credit cards and expenses, and supplier payments.
Ideally, you will be AAT Level 3 qualified, proficient in Xero (and ideally Dext), able to work in a fast-paced environment, and have strong credit control skills. Previous experience working in a business environment that deals with clients and external advisors would be highly advantageous. Strong communication skills are necessary as you will be interacting with clients, finance teams, and external partners to query invoices, chase payments, verify charges, and more.
