Assistant Accountant, Birmingham, £30,000 - £35,000 pa
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our client’s expanding Group head office function. They have been servicing their chosen sector for almost 100 years, during which time they have delivered impressive growth through both organic and acquisitional activity. They now require an ambitious part qualified Assistant Accountant to help drive continued growth.

Reporting to the Head Office Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the consolidation and reporting of the Monthly Management Accounts and assisting in preparing VAT and Tax computations
Specifically focussing on:
- Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments for review by the head office accountant
- Updating the group reporting system
- Support in the maintenance of the Fixed asset register
- Preparation of external audit schedules
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Provision of national statistic returns for HMRC
- Assist in the production of statutory accounts
- Monthly VAT returns
- Assist the Head office Accountant with other ad-hoc accounting tasks
What do you need to bring to the table?
You’ll be a Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or Equivalent) with a passion/desire to complete your studies in this position (Support is provided). You’ll have had some experience with the full month-end process and exposure to Balance Sheet reconciliations. Any previous experience in statutory accounts and corporation tax returns would be highly desirable.
Any experience with JD Edwards would be a distinct advantage but experience using similar ERP systems will be fine as training on their accounting systems will, of course, be provided
